Simon Kelf, CEO / 18-March-2020

In the current climate amid growing concerns surrounding the impact that Coronavirus (Covid-19) might have on businesses, I wanted to provide an update on the business continuity plans we have implemented at BCN Group to ensure you continue to receive the best service possible.

Following the change in the UK Government guidance effective from today, Wednesday 18th March, we have implemented our remote working policy for all staff until further notice. We will retain a small support team at our primary sites in Leeds and Manchester, along with a small number of engineers to ensure we deliver business-critical projects for our customers.

I've set out below the measures that BCN Group are taking as part of our business continuity plan, to ensure we continue deliver our IT support and services to you as normal:

Remote Working

Although we have regional teams and offices, the BCN Group infrastructure has been built to work from any location and has the resiliency to cope with increased demands for remote access and is tested regularly to guarantee this. We’ve also provided every member of our team the necessary equipment to be able to work remotely.

We have increased our voice and data capabilities to ensure smooth running of our infrastructure and telephony, reducing any impact to the quality of your service.

Like yourselves, we take security extremely seriously. Therefore, all our assigned devices come with encryption and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to protect our cloud-based systems ensuring secure access to our business-critical systems, no matter of location

Support

As part of our business continuity planning, we conduct regular, phased and controlled scenario-based testing of our support teams to ensure we’re able to provide ongoing IT support to you. Our ticketing system is cloud-based, meaning that any support ticket raised can be picked up and resolved regardless of location, and agreed SLAs will continue to be met. If our engineers are not able to provide on-site support, we’re dedicated to ensuring that we provide the best remote support as possible.

Therefore, during this period, our Support team will continue to provide all services to the high standards that you expect from us.

Internal Communication

During this period all our staff will continue to collaborate and communicate with each other without interruption. Microsoft Teams is a pivotal part of our business operation and how we communicate with each other within departments and across office locations daily; from assisting each other with queries to facilitating meeting.

Projects

We’re determined that any existing or scheduled business-critical projects should continue as planned. However, we’re currently prioritising requests for remote working capability and functionality from customers as part of their own contingency planning. If we need to reschedule your project, we will notify you as soon as possible.

In the event our engineers are unable to travel, we’ll adopt the below review;

Can the scheduled work be completed remotely?

  • Yes – scheduled work will be carried out as planned.
  • No – You will be notified, and work will be rescheduled for the earliest possible opportunity.

The current situation is fast-moving and evolving every day, and we’ll continue to monitor the situation closely and follow guidelines set out by the UK Government. We’ve created an internal taskforce to continually review the situation and to ensure that we’re ready to respond to any situation immediately.

Our priority is to continue to provide you with the very best service possible and I am confident that with the procedures and policies we’ve put in place, that will continue. If you have any questions, need further information, or if you’re interested in adopting the services, steps and process that we’ve taken, please contact us.
